Vietnamese agarwood is not a recent discovery. It is a heritage shaped through centuries of forests, climate, soil, and time. From ancient trade routes and traditional medicine to spiritual rituals and meditative practices, agarwood has long been regarded as a rare essence of nature — a material deeply interwoven with the cultural history of Asia.
Phu Luan Agarwood was founded upon this historical foundation. We do not position ourselves as pioneers, but as inheritors — continuing and developing Vietnam’s agarwood legacy through the integration of traditional knowledge, ecological understanding, scientific research, and modern production systems.
THE LINEAGE OF THE MASTERS
STORY
Our journey has been shaped by mentors whose knowledge was passed down through practice, experience, and time.
The earliest mentors of our lineage entered deep forests in the 1980s, studying ecosystems and identifying strong Aquilaria trees in their natural habitats. These trees were carefully cultivated and planted across regions suitable for agarwood formation.
Their work established the ecological groundwork that would later support Phu Luan’s development — preserving genetic strength, environmental suitability, and field knowledge rooted in direct experience.
The next mentors expanded this foundation through research and experimentation. They studied the biological process through which agarwood forms naturally and developed microbial approaches designed to replicate nature’s mechanism rather than forcing artificial formation.
Their work connected inherited experience with scientific understanding, contributing to more responsible and sustainable agarwood cultivation.
Phu Luan represents the continuation of this lineage. By inheriting both ecological groundwork and accumulated technical understanding, we integrate raw material regions, production technology, traceability systems, and international standards into a complete and transparent ecosystem.
Our role is not to replace tradition, but to carry it forward with clarity, precision, and long-term responsibility.

Phu Luan Agarwood develops its raw material network across regions historically recognized as highly suitable ecological zones for agarwood formation in Vietnam. These locations possess favorable combinations of soil composition, humidity, altitude, climate patterns, and forest biodiversity — conditions that support natural resin development.
For thousands of years, these regions have been associated with Vietnam’s agarwood tradition, appearing in historical trade routes, medicinal records, and cultural practices.

Phu Luan Agarwood’s production facility is located in Quang Nam, a region long recognized for its historical association with premium Vietnamese agarwood. The location reflects a deliberate continuity between origin and production — where tradition and modern technique meet within the same landscape.
Our facilities are equipped with advanced extraction and processing systems designed to preserve, refine, and express the natural compounds within agarwood. The philosophy guiding our work is simple:

Through methods such as controlled steam distillation and supercritical CO₂ extraction, delicate aromatic molecules can be retained with greater precision than through conventional approaches.
